“In March winter is holding back and spring is pulling forward. Something holds and something pulls inside of us too.”

Sunday was a glorious day. The sun shone in a perfectly blue sky. The bare trees looked incongruous in such a summer-like environment. On Monday, gray clouds blanketed the sky, obscuring the sun.

This is how it is in spring. One day is sunny and full of promise, the next is dull and cold.

Take each day as it comes. Make the most of each day. Notice the little things — like daffodils nodding their heads and rows of brightly colored tulips.

Here are 31 affirmations to help you make the most of March. …

Thanks, Vic. I'll look out for it. I don't think I've ever seen it here but you never know - perhaps I just haven't noticed it!

Hi Vic

I enjoyed reading about your woodland very much. I haven't seen wild garlic before. I will look out for it on my walks! There is so much to find and explore in nature, if we look!

I completely agree that a walk in nature helps you to be more creative when you return to work. It's wonderful that you live so near such a beautiful place!

Best wishes,

Recently I’ve developed a new craving — it’s not for chocolate, cookies or red wine (this time!), it’s for walking around a lake near where I live.

If I don’t go for a few days, I feel it calling to me, as cookies ‘call’ from the cupboard!

I give into this craving and head for the lake. As I walk along the path leading to it, I start to feel more relaxed. I notice the tall silver birch trees edging the path, guarding it like sentinels.

Approaching the lake, I hear the cawing of crows and the quacking of ducks…

Repeat them at least 10 times every morning and several times throughout the day to give yourself a burst of positivity.

  1. Life supports me in everything I do.

3. I am thankful for today.

4. Today is going to be awesome.

5. I easily deal with whatever…

Positive affirmations are very powerful. They can change your deeply-rooted beliefs over time. By changing your beliefs, you’ll remove the ‘blocks’ that stop you from being the best version of yourself and creating your best life.

For a great start to the day, repeat an affirmation at least ten times. I prefer to write it down ten times in my journal, but you could repeat it out loud. Some people say it’s good to do so while looking in a mirror.

Come back to the affirmation of the day several times during the day:

  • during your tea or coffee breaks

I hope you all had a peaceful and relaxing Christmas, even if you couldn’t spend it in the way you normally do or would have liked to.

Now that 2020 has drawn to a close, here is a round-up of the 10 most popular posts published in Small Steps. This year, I’ve decided to rank the posts in terms of the number of reads rather than the number of views, fans or claps.

I think the number of reads is the best indicator because it shows how many people were interested enough to read a post all the way through…

When I wrote 366 Positive Words to Help Make 2020 Your Best Year Yet, I had no idea what 2020 would bring. I had no idea that a pandemic would affect everyone on the planet. I had no idea how many people worldwide would be infected by a virus that I had never heard of. I had no idea how many people would be affected economically as a result of the virus. I had no idea how much people would need a positive message of hope to get them through a difficult year.

Now that we’ve almost reached the end…

Is it possible to go Christmas shopping without leaving your home or spending any money? If this sounds too good to be true, read on.

The truth is that most people have many unopened and unused new items in their homes. These may still have the tags attached and/or be sealed in their original packaging.

You or a member of your family may have bought these items on impulse. Or, they may have been given as gifts, which you or a family member didn’t like or need.

Such items make excellent Christmas gifts.
