Yes, it's definitely a good idea to protect yourself as much as you can and get out as quickly as you can when you're working in toxic workplace. Remember to take some time to switch off and check in with yourself - writing your thoughts and feelings down in a journal can be therapeutic and can give you fresh insights into the situation at work.
