Sunday was a glorious day. The sun shone in a perfectly blue sky. The bare trees looked incongruous in such a summer-like environment. On Monday, gray clouds blanketed the sky, obscuring the sun.

This is how it is in spring. One day is sunny and full of promise, the next is dull and cold.

Recently I’ve developed a new craving — it’s not for chocolate, cookies or red wine (this time!), it’s for walking around a lake near where I live.

If I don’t go for a few days, I feel it calling to me, as cookies ‘call’ from the cupboard!

I give into this craving and head for the lake. As I walk along the path leading to it, I start to feel more relaxed. I notice the tall silver birch trees edging the path, guarding it like sentinels.

Approaching the lake, I hear the cawing of crows and the quacking of ducks…

Positive affirmations are very powerful. They can change your deeply-rooted beliefs over time. By changing your beliefs, you’ll remove the ‘blocks’ that stop you from being the best version of yourself and creating your best life.

For a great start to the day, repeat an affirmation at least ten times. I prefer to write it down ten times in my journal, but you could repeat it out loud. Some people say it’s good to do so while looking in a mirror.

Come back to the affirmation of the day several times during the day:
